Chicago radio ratings: The Mix moves up to the top

WTMX

With strong first-place performances by Eric Ferguson in mornings and Kevin “Koz” Koske in afternoons, WTMX 101.9-FM jumped to No. 1 in the latest Chicago radio ratings.

The Hubbard Radio hot adult-contemporary station gained a half-point in audience share to capture the top spot from Entercom all-news WBBM 780-AM/WCFS 105.9-FM, which fell to fourth place in the Nielsen Audio monthly survey released Monday.

Second overall was iHeartMedia urban adult-contemporary WVAZ 102.7-FM, which led in evenings with Chris Michaels. Third was Hubbard Radio classic rock WDRV 97.1-FM, which led in middays with Bob Stroud.

Cubs baseball broadcasts on WSCR 670-AM apparently boosted the Entercom sports/talk station from 16th place to eighth, while White Sox baseball on WGN 720-AM did little to help the Tribune news/talk station, which fell from 11th to 14th. Despite WGN's top 10 finishes in mornings with Steve Cochran and in middays with Bill Leff, Wendy Snyder and John Williams, afternoons with Roe Conn and Anna Davlantes dropped to 19th place.

Note: In accordance with Nielsen’s publishing guidelines, I cannot report actual audience shares other than those for the full week (below). For mornings, middays, afternoons and evenings, I can list only their rankings — not specific shares.
