Chicago radio ratings: Another big victory for V103

V103 102.7-FM Chicago

WVAZ 102.7-FM marked its 30th anniversary as Chicago's premier music station with another stellar performance atop Chicago's radio ratings.

Nielsen Audio figures released Monday showed the iHeartMedia urban adult-contemporary powerhouse No. 1 among all listeners. V103 leads the market with 56 first-place finishes in the monthly survey since Nielsen introduced Portable People Meter-based surveys in 2008, according to the station.

The Entercom all-news simulcast combo of WBBM 780-AM and WCFS 105.9-FM, celebrating its 50th year in the format, ran a close second. WBBM Newsradio anchors Felicia Middlebrooks and Pat Cassidy again were first in morning drive.

In third place with its largest share ever was WOJO 105.1-FM, the Univision Spanish-language regional Mexican station. La Que Buena 105.1 was No. 1 in afternoon drive with Sylvia del Valle, Jose Gutierrez and Carlos Ivan Paez.

The Nielsen Audio survey ran from September 13 to October 10.

Note: In accordance with Nielsen's publishing guidelines, I cannot report actual audience shares other than those for the full week (below). For mornings, middays, afternoons and evenings, I can list only their rankings — not specific shares.

Monday's comment of the day: Chris Thomas: As faculty advisor of WLTL, it is so cool that we can not only bring this [“The War of the Worlds”] to listeners but also that alumni like Steve Darnell stay connected and give back to our station, community and our students. Thanks Steve!
