Elizabeth Matthews, a Columbia College graduate and former intern at NBC-owned WMAQ-Channel 5, is the newest face at Fox-owned WFLD-Channel 32.

Matthews debuted this week as a per diem reporter at Fox 32. "Check out my first story on @fox32news tonight at 9pm," she tweeted Tuesday. "Researchers have created a Bionic Leg and we get to see it in action!"

A native of Rushville, Illinois, she most recently was a reporter at KSDK-TV, the NBC affiliate in St. Louis. She left the station after three years last month when her husband joined his family’s construction business in Chicago, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Matthews previously worked as a reporter at KTUL-TV, the ABC affiliate in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and KOAM-TV, the CBS affiliate in Joplin, Missouri.

Last year Matthews made news for a story she reported on an Illinois farmer who uses human excrement to fertilize his crops. At one point, she stuck her bare hands into a pile of treated waste and went in for a sniff.

"It doesn't smell very good," she told viewers.
