Lauren Cohn, whose midday show with John Kass was abruptly canceled Thursday, could be shifting to a new role at WLS AM 890 as a contributor to Big John Howell's morning show.

Both Kass and Cohn, whose show aired from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday, were called in for meetings with management of the Cumulus Media news/talk station after they got off the air Thursday. While Kass was told he was finished at WLS, Cohn was given the option of trying out for a spot with Howell, sources said.

Donna Baker, vice president and Chicago market manager of Cumulus Media, referred requests for comment to a corporate spokeswoman.

Howell, whose show airs from 5 to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday, joined WLS in January after nine years at Salem Media news/talk WIND AM 560. At WIND he was teamed with Amy Jacobson, but he has been hosting solo at WLS.

Cohn joined WLS full-time in 2013 when she succeeded the late Jim Edwards (aka Jake Hartford) alongside Kass. She previously worked as an anchor and reporter at Fox-owned WFLD-Channel 32, CBS-owned WBBM-Channel 2 and ABC-owned WLS-Channel 7.
