After two years as a per diem reporter at CBS-owned WBBM-Channel 2, Courtney Gousman has been hired as a full-time general assignment reporter at Tribune Broadcasting WGN-Channel 9.

Starting July 9, she’ll be reporting on WGN’s evening newscasts, according to interim news director Jennifer Lyons.

“A Chicago native, Courtney is a perfect fit for ‘Chicago’s Very Own’ news team,” Lyons said. “She’s experienced, dynamic and active in the community. She’ll be a great addition to our staff.”

The daughter of a Chicago policeman and graduate of Chicago’s Whitney Young High School and Hampton University in Virginia, Gousman joined CBS 2 from KSDK-TV, the NBC affiliate in St. Louis, where she was a news anchor and reporter. She previously worked at WEHT-TV in Evansville, Indiana, KRGC-TV in Jefferson City, Missouri, and WMAR-TV in Baltimore.

It’s a return to Tribune Broadcasting for Gousman, who began her career as an intern at CLTV in 2003.

“I’m so grateful and blessed for this latest opportunity,” Gousman tweeted. “God is good!”
