Veteran Chicago news anchor Linda Yu was back on the air Monday — one month after she broke her leg in a traffic accident while vacationing in Florida.

Just in time for the February sweeps, Yu returned to the 4 p.m. weekday newscast she anchors with Alan Krashesky on ABC-owned WLS-Channel 7. A 30-year veteran of the station, Yu also delivers news updates on “Windy City Live.”

Yu, 67, required two surgeries to repair injuries to her leg. Following extensive physical therapy, she returned to Chicago last Wednesday.

“I’m overwhelmed by the thousands of you who have said prayers and sent good wishes for me,” she told friends on Facebook. “It has made me cry to think you would take your time to send me a message.”
