Will US99.5 newcomer make a name for himself?

Joel Lisinski

Joel Lisinski

What would you call this guy?

His real name is Joel Lisinski. On the radio in Milwaukee, he's Joel Sheridan. And now that he's been hired as nighttime personality on WUSN FM 99.5, he's about to get a new identity.

"We are still working on an air name for Joel," Jeff Kapugi, program director of the CBS Radio country music station, wrote in a staff memo Tuesday. "Suggestions welcomed."

By whatever name he assumes on US99.5, Lisinski will be heard from 7 p.m. to midnight Monday through Friday, starting Nov. 4. It's a homecoming for the Evanston native and Loyola Academy graduate who previously worked for north suburban WXLC FM 102.3. He majored in media arts/radio at Emerson College in Boston and earned a law degree from Marquette University Law School.

"I guess this is a pretty epic week," Lisinski wrote on Facebook. "I am excited to announce that I have gone country!" He most recently was on the air at hot adult-contemporary WMYX-FM and Top 40 WXSS-FM in Milwaukee.

At US99.5, he'll restore the evening hours to live and local. Marci Braun, assistant program director and music director, has been voice-tracking the air shift. Under the new alignment, Kapugi said, Braun will voice-track overnights. Chris Reese, who'd been voice-tracking overnights, will focus on production duties for Lisa Dent and Ramblin' Ray Stevens' morning show.

In the latest Nielsen Audio survey, US99.5 ranked sixth in evenings overall with a 4.3 percent share and cumulative weekly audience of 460,600.
