A familiar voice on WFMT 98.7-FM — weekend host and onetime program director Dennis Moore — has been named morning personality at the Window to the World Communications classical music station.

Starting August 6, he’ll succeed Carl Grapentine, who’s retiring from the 6-to-10 a.m. weekday “Morning Program” Friday after three decades at WFMT.

“I am honored and thrilled to bring new energy to a program that is so important to our listeners and to our station,” Moore said in a statement Monday. “I’m looking forward to putting my own stamp on it, and I feel privileged to be a part of such a special time of day for the WFMT audience.”

A longtime host and producer, Moore first joined the staff of WFMT in 1990 from WMFE in Orlando, Florida, where he had been music director. From 1997 to 2004 he served as program director of WFMT. Since 2015 he’s been host and producer from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturdays and from 7 to 10 a.m. Sundays.

Maggie Clennon Reberg

Coinciding with Moore’s promotion, WFMT has moved Maggie Clennon Reberg from Sunday nights to weekend mornings and weekday evenings. Reberg joined the station as a part-time host in 2015 after applying in an open call for talent.

”Dennis is the ideal person to helm our ‘Morning Program,’” said David Polk, program director of WFMT. “I’m excited to see how he will develop the show. And Maggie is a fresh and exciting new voice. I know that she and Dennis will thrive in these new roles.”

Grapentine is expected to work on special projects for WFMT, including a weekday morning feature, “Carl’s Almanac,” starting September 3. A podcast is planned for early 2019.

In the latest Nielsen Audio survey, WFMT tied for 28th in mornings with a 1.1 percent share and cumulative weekly audience of 103,100.
