Melissa Forman going ‘home again’ to Lite FM morning show

Likable longtime Chicago radio and television personality Melissa Forman is returning to WLIT 93.9-FM as morning host, the iHeartMedia adult contemporary station announced today.

Starting May 29, Forman will be on from 6 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, succeeding Kristina Kage, who ended a three-year run at Lite FM last week.

Forman most recently co-hosted “You & Me” with Jeanne Sparrow on Weigel Broadcasting WCIU-Channel 26. The locally produced weekday morning talk-and-entertainment show was canceled in March 2017 after eight years.

This will be Forman’s third time at Lite FM. Earlier stints ran from 2001 to 2006 and from 2007 to 2009. “It’s an opportunity to go home again — to a station that I have always loved, with listeners I have really missed,” she said in a statement. “I’m humbled and excited.”

Forman grew up in Northbrook and graduated from Glenbrook North High School and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 1999, her first Chicago area radio job was at the former WKIE in Arlington Heights.

“I am so excited to welcome Melissa Forman back into the iHeartMedia Chicago family,” Matt Scarano, president of iHeartMedia Markets Group’s Chicago region, said in a statement. “She has a rich history with Chicago and 93.9 Lite FM’s listeners, and we are looking forward to working with her again.”

In the latest Nielsen Audio survey, Lite FM ranks 12th in mornings with a 2.9 percent share and cumulative weekly audience of 468,000. In the target demographic of women between 25 and 54, it’s tied for 11th with a 3.4 share.
