Robservations on the media beat:

In a surprising cutback, veteran Chicago sportscaster Chris Boden is out after 10 years at Comcast SportsNet Chicago. Boden hosted numerous pre/postgame shows, including ones for the Bears and Blackhawks, and served as an anchor/reporter for “SportsNite” and “SportsNet Central.” “We appreciate everything Chris has provided our network over the years and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors,” CSN Chicago said in a statement Tuesday. Boden, who grew up in south suburban Burbank and graduated from Luther South High School and Columbia College, is an award-winning pro whose career has spanned the NFL Network and multiple Chicago television and radio stations.

Wednesday morning update: Here's a statement from Boden: “I’ve truly enjoyed and appreciated my ten years at CSN. It’s been my privilege to continue working at a job that’s never seemed like work, communicating with and presenting reports and stories to my hometown’s passionate sports fans. As I look forward to whatever the next opportunity may be, I’ll cherish the friendships created with the great group of professionals who made my job easier, whom I’ve proudly called my teammates.”

Rafer Weigel

Rafer Weigel, former weekend sports anchor and reporter at ABC-owned WLS-Channel 7, could be on his way back home to Chicago. Last month he was spotted at Fox-owned WFLD-Channel 32, where he taped audition segments with news anchors Natalie Bomke and Darlene Hill. Nothing is official, but Fox 32 insiders say he may be close to signing on as a news anchor. Since 2014 he’s been working as 6 and 10 p.m. news anchor at KTVI, the Fox affiliate in St. Louis. He previously was sports anchor for HLN’s “Morning Express with Robin Meade.” Weigel is the son of the late, legendary Chicago sports anchor Tim Weigel and grandson of Weigel Broadcasting founder John Weigel.

Barbara Mousigian

Barbara Mousigian has been hired as vice president of digital at Chicago Public Media WBEZ FM 91.5, effective August 23. She most recently was senior vice president of marketing for Vivid Seats, LLC and previously held senior positions at Digitas, CDW Inc. and Cars.com. Calling Mousigian “a perfect fit and the right person to spearhead our aggressive digital expansion,” Goli Sheikholeslami, president and CEO of Chicago Public Media, said: “Barbara will be an integral part of our mission to lead the evolution of broadcast radio to digital audio. She has the experience and insights to help ensure our success with the next generation of listeners.”

Jessica Delgado

Newest face on the Chicago weather front is Jessica Delgado, who has joined Telemundo Chicago WSNS-Channel 44 as weather anchor for the recently launched weekend editions of Noticiero Telemundo Chicago. A native of Venezuela and graduate of the University of Miami, Delgado previously worked for Telemundo’s KTAZ in Phoenix and for the MundoFox news team in Miami. “This is certainly a new and positive experience for me,” she said in a statement. “I am thrilled to join the Noticiero Telemundo Chicago team and do my best work for the community.”
