Teri Arvesu

Chicago’s first Spanish-language midday newscast is coming to WGBO-Channel 66. Starting June 26, Enrique Rodriguez and Diana Perez will anchor “Edición Digital” (“Digital Edition”) on the Univision Chicago station at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Patterned after the Univision Network’s “Noticiero Univision Edición Digital,” the half-hour newscast will be simulcast on all digital platforms, including live streaming online and on Facebook. “We have the ability to connect daily with almost every Latino in Chicago via one of our platforms,” said Teri Arvesu, vice president and director of content and news for Univision Chicago Local Media. “This show is a direct response to the changing needs and habits of our our audiences. We must evolve with them.”

Larry Wert

Veteran Chicago media executive Larry Wert was honored last week as Broadcaster of the Year by the Illinois Broadcasters Association at its annual Silver Dome Awards ceremony in Springfield. Wert was named president of broadcast media for Tribune Broadcasting in 2013 after 15 years as president and general manager of NBC-owned WMAQ-Channel 5. The Chicago area native and 39-year veteran of local TV and radio also serves as interim chairman of the Museum of Broadcast Communications.

Tabitha Green

Tabitha Green, former director of integrated marketing at Kin Community, has been hired as director of marketing and digital innovation at Tribune Broadcasting news/talk WGN AM 720. She previously was an account executive at BlogHer and shopper marketing manager at Walgreens. She also writes the lifestyle blog Defining Tabitha. At WGN Green replaces Jackie Paulus, who resigned to join former boss Jimmy deCastro’s new sports marketing company.

Museum of Broadcast Communications

As part of its yearlong 35th anniversary celebration, Chicago’s Museum of Broadcast Communications will stay open until 8 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month and offer a series of special programs. Starting June 21, curator Wally Podrazik and archivist Steve Jajkowski will host “Wednesday Night @ the MBC,” featuring unique screenings, panel discussions and trivia contests. The museum is at 360 North State Street.

A headline in Sunday’s Chicago Tribune Travel section misspelled Brazil. Last week a front page headline in the Tribune misspelled the name of J.B. Pritzker, Democratic candidate for governor.
