My new home at the Daily Herald

Daily Herald

I am very happy to share the news that today I joined Paddock Publications, owner of the Daily Herald, as media columnist.

My daily media blog will continue to be posted right here at RobertFeder.com. In addition, my work will appear in the pages of the Daily Herald and the Daily Herald Business Ledger, and online at dailyherald.com and dhbusinessledger.com.

I am thrilled to be able to continue to do the work I love — especially for an organization as great as the Daily Herald.

As always, I am most grateful for your loyalty and trust over the past 37 years.

Here is the text of the memo to staff from Doug Ray, chairman, publisher and CEO of Paddock Publications; and Scott Stone, president and chief operating officer:

We are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Robert Feder to bring his column to Daily Herald readers.

Feder, who has been the preeminent Chicago area media reporter for nearly four decades, will continue to write his daily media blog at RobertFeder.com but now his work also will appear in the Daily Herald, dailyherald.com as well as the Daily Herald Business Ledger and dhbusinessledger.com.

Feder spent 28 years covering broadcast media for the Chicago Sun-Times. When he stepped down as television and radio columnist in 2008, the late John Callaway called him “one of the most powerful persons in Chicago broadcasting.” Feder launched his media blog the following year and served as media critic for Time Out Chicago and Chicago Public Media’s Vocalo Blogs. From 2013 to 2016 his independent blog was licensed by Chicago Tribune Media Group.

A lifelong resident of the Chicago area and a suburbanite, Feder graduated from Niles East High School in Skokie and the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. In 2009 he was inducted in the Medill Hall of Achievement.
