Chicago Tribune changing menu for weekly sections

In a realignment of the Chicago Tribune’s weekly sections, the print edition of the newspaper will discontinue its Thursday Dining and Auto Mart inserts after this week.

A new Food & Dining section on Wednesdays will incorporate the recipes and features now appearing in Good Eating with news of restaurants, bars and clubs from Dining. The new section will debut July 15, according to a spokesperson for Chicago Tribune Media Group.

Auto sections will continue on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, but ads that previously ran in the Thursday editions of Auto Mart will appear elsewhere throughout the paper.

Among other changes, Homes will move from Fridays to Thursdays, and Travel will gain higher visibility as a wrap around the Sunday inserts and comics.

On the Town, which will continue to run on Fridays, also will feature expanded coverage of dining.

“The impetus for the change is to better serve our advertisers and readers, allowing them to plan ahead for weekend,” the spokesperson said. “The space devoted to editorial copy — and the overall page counts — stay the same.”
