Ryan Burrow, news anchor and reporter at Cumulus Media news/talk WLS AM 890, has been hired as a multimedia journalist at Tribune Media news/talk WGN AM 720.

Todd Manley, vice president of content and programming at WGN, said Burrow joins the station as part of a shared talent agreement with ABC News Radio, as it establishes a Chicago-based Midwest bureau for the network. Under the arrangement, Burrow occasionally will be dispatched by ABC to be on the scene of major regional stories.

He also will provide key reporting along with Vic Vaughn from the WGN newsroom covering breaking news with anchor Andrea Darlas during Steve Cochran’s morning show and throughout middays with reporter Kim Gordon, according to Manley.

“I’m thrilled to have Ryan join [news director] Judy Pielach’s team of talented reporters, and launch this rich news partnership with the vast resources of ABC,” Manley said in a statement Tuesday.

Burrow most recently has been midday news anchor at WLS, where he’s worked since December 2012. At WGN he’ll occasionally fill in on the anchor desk as well.

A Chicago native and graduate of Valparaiso University and DePaul University, Burrow previously worked as online national news producer for Clear Channel News Network and Tribune Interactive, and as a news anchor and reporter for Merlin Media’s short-lived FM news format in Chicago.

Peter Bowen, vice president and Chicago market manager of Cumulus Media, did not respond to a request for comment on plans to replace Burrow at WLS.
