Want to hear Siri read stories from the Chicago Tribune to you? Now with the new Apple Watch, there’s an app for that.

Tribune Publishing rolled out a series of apps Friday for the Apple Watch allowing users to access content from the Tribune and seven other newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times, Orlando Sentinel, Sun Sentinel of South Florida, Baltimore Sun, Hartford Courant, Daily Press of Newport News, Virginia, and The Morning Call of Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The centerpiece of the company’s innovation is a unique “listen” feature, in which users can tap a specific story to have Siri read it aloud on a connected iPhone. Apple Watch owners in all eight cities also will receive breaking news alerts for their hometowns.

“The Apple Watch apps represent the latest in our growing suite of digital offerings, which deliver premium local content to audiences in major markets across the country,” Bill Adee, executive vice president of digital for Tribune Publishing, said in a statement. “The Apple Watch app gives our audience yet another platform — wearables — for instantly accessing the news that is most important to them – all via a touch to the wrist.”
