V103’s Banks wins afternoons again

Doug Banks again led Chicago’s afternoon ratings race, retaining the top spot overall for iHeartMedia urban adult-contemporary WVAZ FM 102.7 in the Nielsen Audio survey for the period from from October 9 to November 5.

Among men between 25 and 54, Chicago’s two AM sports/talk stations tied for first place. Tom Waddle and Marc Silverman of ESPN WMVP AM 1000 and Terry Boers and Dan Bernstein of CBS Radio WSCR AM 670 posted identical 5.0 percent shares in the demo. Neither show cracked the top 10 overall.

Among women between 25 and 54, the big winner was Kevin “Koz” Koske of Hubbard Radio hot adult-contemporary WTMX FM 101.9 with a 9.4 share.

Bill Leff and Wendy Snyder on Tribune Media news/talk WGN AM 720 tied for 15th in afternoons with a 2.5 share — up from 18th with a 2.3 share the previous month.

Cumulus Media news/talk WLS AM 890 sank to a tie for 27th in afternoons with a 1.1 share. Steve Dahl debuted in the time period previously occupied by Roe Conn and Richard Roeper on November 3 — two days before the ratings period ended.

Here’s a look at Chicago’s top 10 afternoon shows as measured by Nielsen Audio among all listeners age 6 and older from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, followed by average share of audience (with previous month’s share in parentheses).
