ABC 7’s new lineup looks familiar

"General Hospital"

“General Hospital”

The long-running soap opera “General Hospital” and the syndicated “Inside Edition” and “Jeopardy!” will return to their old time slots this fall on WLS-Channel 7, as the ABC-owned station shuffles its daytime schedule for the third time in three years.

Blame it all on Katie Couric’s ill-fated daytime talk show, which debuted at 3 p.m. two years ago, disrupting ABC 7’s top-rated lineup and sending viewers scrambling to find “General Hospital” at 1 p.m. and the “Inside Edition” and “Jeopardy!” combo at 2 p.m.

Now with “Katie” canceled (and airing for the last time September 12), ABC 7 will put “General Hospital” back where it aired for most of its 51-year run at 2 p.m., and “Inside Edition”/”Jeopardy!” at 3 and 3:30 p.m.

Joining the station’s lineup at 1 p.m. will be “The Rachael Ray Show,” which currently airs at 10 a.m. on Tribune Broadcasting WGN-Channel 9.

Last fall, ABC 7 added “LIVE with Kelly and Michael” at 9 a.m. and shifted the locally produced “Windy City Live” to 11 a.m. in place of a newscast that had aired for more than 20 years.

Here is ABC 7’s Monday-through-Friday daytime lineup, starting September 15:

  • 9 a.m. LIVE! with Kelly and Michael
  • 10 a.m. The View
  • 11 a.m. Windy City Live
  • noon The Chew
  • 1 p.m. Rachael Ray
  • 2 p.m. General Hospital
  • 3 p.m. Inside Edition
  • 3:30 p.m. Jeopardy!
  • 4 p.m. ABC 7 Eyewitness News
